I have been using this model rain guage for at least ten years. I finally had to replace my original because it was becoming harder and harder to read the small column since the black paint on the numbers and had faded. I provide weather info to a local newspaper and want the very best and most accurate instruments - and for rain guages this is the best.

This rain gauge is accurate and easy to read. With the aid of the gauge, I know whether to use my sprinkler system or delay based on the amount of rain. Be sure to store it during the winter, so rain/snowmelt doesn't freeze in the tube and destroy it. It is mounted on a post, so it's easy to slide it off the mount. I have it mounted on my deck.

I have loved each and every one of my professional rain gauges, even this time when I recieved 2 when I had ordered only 1. I paid & kept both in case I'd later need the other. This shows how highly I think of them! Every day I check the gauge to see if there was any precipitation to update my precipitation table. This hobby has involved these gauges for the past 10 years.

The guage is sturdy and easy to use and read. The design will permit mounting on a stake, or simply setting it on a level surface.

This is a terrific rain gauge! Old fashioned and low-tech, but very clever design. The inside cylinder, with its scale magnified by the wide funnel, gives you very accurate readings of the first inch of rain, to 0.01" accuracy. Beyond an inch, the rest overflows into the huge capacity outer cylinder. All you have to do is empty the inner cylinder, refill it from the outer cylinder, and repeat until you have measured all of it to 0.01" accuracy. I have one of these at our primary home and another at our second home. Even if we are away from one of them for a month or more, I can get an accurate reading of the rainfall.

Great product unless a quick freeze happens while water remains in the gauge. Then it will crack!

This is my third rain guage of this type, the plastic ears or fingers on the post mounted holder do not hold up well. The clear plastic will cloud in the sunlight -- I guess that the UV will attack the plastic over time (8 years or so).

This is our second Professional Rain Gauge. After more than ten years of use in hot and very sunny southern Arizona, the plastic of our first rain gauge had "frosted." However, I loved the ease of use and accuracy of this gauge, so replaced it with the same one. Ten years plus is a great value in my book.
